PLASTIC SURGERY | BODY SHAPING

Body Shaping

A perfect body is undoubtedly our dream.Doing sports, eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of fluids have become our routine. But what should we do if we cannot correct the existing amorphousness despite all this? At this stage, you can apply for plastic surgery that is not a luxury any more. Of course, in reliable hands. Prof Dr Murat Topalan explained us body shaping operations.

What are body contouring, namely, body shaping surgeries?

Body Contouring is the correction of the shape that the individual feels unhappy about her/his body. In reality, it is desirable to replace the feminine contours that have deteriorated in women, that is, to reconstruct the distorted female figure. Think of it like this, she is a very nice woman, but her waist is thick, her hips are fat, her buttocks are narrow and small. Here, it is understood due to the flattened waist and hip image that surgery or surgeries are performed to create feminine curves, that is, thinning the waist, narrowing the hip and showing the hips wide, namely, reconstructing the feminine curves. Again, it is like making a low and flattened buttocks round, big and raised after the weight loss. This will include the entire body, as well as certain areas. These surgeries are usually combined surgeries. The purpose in men is similar; putting part or all of the body into a masculine form.

What operations does body contouring cover?

Most of the aesthetic surgeries performed for the body, arms and legs are actually "body contouring" surgeries. The concept here is different. We evaluate the body, namely breast, abdomen, buttocks, butt, waist region or arms and legs as a whole and evaluate asymmetries, irregularities, deficiencies and excesses, sagging accordingly. Compliance with the whole is essential here. As I mentioned earlier, it is the fitting of pleasant feminine contours. Surgery such as breast augmentation and lifting, handling of the waist and genitals together with abdominoplasty, correction of the waist, hip and leg backs together, correction of the breast-abdomen and waist area at the same time, correction of sagging by fixing the arms, correction of the inner surfaces of the legs are in this cathegory . The work done for each patient is different.

Is it possible to do all these operations in one session?

The number of surgery and their intervals are determined by the need of the patient. The basic principle is to do what can be done without increasing the risk. In regional problems, sometimes the desired result can be obtained with an operation. It may sometimes take 3-4 surgeries to achieve the change in the whole body in postbariatric patients who have excess weight-loss. We evaluate each patient separately and usually create a treatment program.

Who does usually prefer body contouring operations and do women / men distinct?

Two types of patients come to us. Patients with regional troubles in the body are the first. For example, they come with the complain that their arms are thick and have sagging, and that they cannot wear straps and short sleeves. One of the most common examples is the postpartum breast sagging, hollowness of the breasts, chaps on the skin, sagging in the abdomen, thickening of the waist, as a result, some of their bodies succumbed to time, causing loss of appreciation in total body perception. The ones with complaits in the whole body are the second group of patients. These patients are overweight and had excessive weight loss. Patients lost weight between 20-100 kg. The approach here requires a treatment involving specific surgeries in plastic surgery under the cathegory “postbariatric surgery”. It requires special attention, it has been popular for the last 20 years. In recent years, there has been a serious increase in the number of male patients, we frequently perform body contouring surgeries in men after excess weight loss or especially in regional unhappiness in the chest area.

When does the patient start to see the results of the operation?

Even in consecutive surgeries, the change and form in the body are noticeable under the corset. The real result appears after edema reduced, that is, on average 3 months. I tell my patients to postpone shopping until 3 months later.

Are the results after the operation permanent?

All my aim is to get the best results I can get at the operating table. It makes me very sad to be behind this for any reason. In my opinion, the last image on the operating table is the last image to be obtained weeks later. Subsequent efforts are directed at ensuring that the image remains long-lasting. It should not be forgotten that the truth is that no result is permanent. Every tissue will succumb to time, gravity and movements. What it really should be is not a permanent result. In Aesthetic-Plastic surgery, a transformation in time is obtained to years before with the correction, and we expect that the change in the results will develop proportional to the whole body as time goes by. Thus, the body is perceived as young and beautiful. Of course these are my thoughts.

Are the results making happy?

Who does not want a body with feminine characteristics. To date, I have never seen a patient who is unhappy. Protection of the result will require devotion though.

Finally, what would you recommend to those who plan to have this operation?

I recommend patients who have problems with body perception or who have all or regional unhappiness in their contours, to consult with a plastic reconstructive and aesthetic surgery specialist. The important thing here is that the patient's wishes are realistic and his expectations are healthy. The plastic surgery specialist will present solutions to the patient, how he can help surgically, the treatment plan and the process, if any, in response to this justified request. Patients should discuss the type, duration, number of surgeries, what results can be achieved, the surgical scars, the duration of wearing corset or socks, the problems that may be encountered and any conceivable details with his doctor. These surgeries are frequently carried out successfully today.
